HEALTH EDUCATION Health Education – Grade 11 Optimal health is dependent upon interaction of knowledge, attitude and behavior. The content of this course has been established as a five-strand approach to the areas of physical health, sociological health problems, mental health, environmental and community health, and education for survival. Emphasis is placed on comprehensive health education and conceptual approach is used as a framework for instruction. .5 credits PHYSICAL EDUCATION Physical education is taught to all students in grades 9-12 as a New York State requirement. It contributes to the total development of the individual through a variety of physical activities. Emphasis is on skill development and promotion of enjoyment through physical activity, as well as the development of wholesome attitudes and health habits are our goal.
Physical Education Grade Level 9-10 Students are provided an opportunity to refine their physical skills in a variety of activities. Game strategy and competition are emphasized. The program aims to promote enjoyment through physical activity, to establish wholesome attitudes and habits, and to improve physical fitness, endurance, strength and agility. .5 credits Physical Education Grade 11-12 This program is offered whereby students may pursue an activity of their choice in depth. The program provides an opportunity to learn lifetime sports and aims to offer experiences within the student’s ability. .5 credits
